Paws Up to Our Friends at Ballard School!
On March 30, 2021 we had a surprise visit from two teachers from Ballard Elementary School in Niles, Tammy Tallis-Crowner and Deb Burkhard. They presented us with a $700 donation and 5 boxes of stuffed animals for the dogs. Every March the students and staff celebrate reading month by having the entire school read the same book. This year they all read a book titled “Pet Wars” and the students had a little dog vs. cat war of their own! Students were asked to bring in their spare change as a fundraiser for the Humane Society and place it in either a dog or cat jar. Looks like the war was won by the dogs this year--sorry, cat lovers! The teachers reported that the students really enjoyed watching the piles of change grow. We at the Humane Society thank the Ballard Elementary students, teachers, and Principal Jennifer Shabazz for their generosity and willingness to help support the animals! Paws up to all of you.
