YES I want to make a monetary donation!
May 4, 2008 The Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan is still doing spring cleaning and needs your help! Actually we clean everyday, every season! Part of our cleaning process includes cleaning our floors with disenfectant to prevent diseases in our shelter. Floors are mopped at least once a day and more often as necessary. Non pine scented floor cleaner is needed for this purpose and is our May item of the month! Why non-pine scented you ask? For some reason the pine scent seems to be to strong for our pets noses and causes sniffling and sneezing! So please help us keep our shelter clean! Donations can be dropped of at the Humane Society at 641 S. Crystal Ave. Benton Harbor or our donation bins at Pet Supplies Plus on Mall Dr. in Benton Harbor, PawMart Pet Center on Cleveland Ave. in St. Joseph or Biscuits Pet Center on Cleveland Ave. in Stevensville! Please consider donating today!
May 2, 2008 Well they say anything can be fixed with Duct Tape and we have to agree that it is an essential item, often used, here at the shelter. If you could donate a roll or two to help us keep the Shelter "stuck together" we would appreciate it!
April 10, 2008 Our Shelter Director advises we are running low on paper towels at the shelter. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the shelter any time. Remember for our uses quanitity is often more important then quality and this runs true with paper towels so buy two of the cheaper brands instead of one of the more expensive ones! Thanks!
March 3, 2008: You might have heard postage stamps are going up again. However the post office has designed a new stamp that will never require additional postage for a first class letter even if the postage rates go up again and again. The Humane Society uses postage stamps to mail everything from adoption follow-up paperwork, bills, thank you's, and requested information. Postage stamps are one of those things you don't usually think of when you think about needs to operate an Humane Shelter, but it is one of the expenses we most commonly have to purchase. By purchasing and donating "Forever Stamps" to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan your donation will grow in worth as the price of postage goes up and help us with the day to day business of running a shelter that houses approximately 150 homeless animals of our community at any given time. Stamps can be dropped of at the Humane Society or mailed to Humane Society of Southwestern MI 641 S. Crystal Ave. Benton Harbor MI 49022
February 15, 2008- Please help us get a jump on our spring cleaning. Cleaning and re-organizing of our office and filing system that is. We are in need of file folders (non hanging), manilla envelopes, notebooks. If you are able to donate any of these items please drop them off at the Humane Society or one of our donation bins at Pet Supplies Plus, PawMart, or Biscuits Pet Center! Thank you for your support!
January 9, We are looking for someone with handyman skills who would like to volunteer some time at the shelter taking care of some small repair and upkeep items. If you are interested call Sue at 269-369-3151!
August 29, 2007- We are in desperate need of a decent digital camera that DOES NOT use disposable batteries. We need one that uses a rechargeable battery. We are currently going through dozens of aa batteries a week to photograph our pets for the website. It would be much more cost effective to have a re-chargeable battery camera! If you can donate a new or used digital camera that would help us maintain the adoptable pets on our website please contact the shelter!!!!!!
Donations can be delivered to the shelter during business hours or they can be dropped off at one of our Donation Bins at Pet Supplies Plus, Biscuits Pet Center, or PawMart! Thank you!

We would glady accept your used printer cartridges and used cell phones. We participate in CASH FOR CRITTERS where we can exchange the used cartridges for money to support our shelter! We also use smaller printer cartridges and exchange them at local office supply stores for reams of paper! Printer cartridges can be dropped off at the shelter on Crystal Ave, or in our donation bins at Pet Supplies Plus, Paw-mart, & Biscuits! THANK YOU!
